Hey!
Here’s your by-weekly 4 minute read to kick-start your week!
A quote that inspired me:
“Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life.” – Steve Jobs
Summer break isn’t just about vacation days and beach reads. It’s the perfect time to step back from the daily grind and ask the hard questions: What do I actually want? Not what I think I should want. Not what looks good on LinkedIn. What lights me up from the inside?
Most people use summer to escape their lives. High performers use it to redesign them.
A life hack: How to use summer break to figure out what you really want
Stop scrolling, start asking. Put down your phone and get honest with yourself. What would you do if money wasn’t a factor? What would you pursue if you knew you couldn’t fail? These aren’t just fantasy questions – they’re clues to your authentic direction.
Track your energy, not your time. Pay attention to what energizes you versus what drains you. That project that makes you lose track of time? That conversation that leaves you buzzing? Those are signals. Your energy is your compass – follow it.
Get bored on purpose. Schedule actual downtime. No podcasts, no Netflix, no “productive” activities. Just you and your thoughts. Boredom is where clarity lives. When you stop filling every moment with noise, you start hearing what actually matters.
Ask the people who know you best. Sometimes we’re too close to see our own patterns. Ask your closest friends: “What do you see me light up about? When do I seem most like myself?” Their answers might surprise you.
Test, don’t just dream. Once you have some clarity, run small experiments. Want to write? Start a weekly newsletter. Curious about coaching? Offer to mentor someone. Real insight comes from action, not just reflection.
What’s on my mind:
I was talking to a friend last week who’s been in the same role for five years. Successful by every measure – great salary, respected by peers, climbing the ladder. But she looked exhausted.
“I don’t even remember what I wanted before I started wanting what I thought I should want,” she said.
That hit me hard. Because I’ve been there. We get so caught up in the momentum of “success” that we forget to check if we’re even heading in the right direction.
Summer break is your chance to hit pause. To remember that high performance isn’t just about achieving goals – it’s about achieving the right goals. The ones that align with who you actually are, not who you think you should be.
Don’t waste this time just recharging for more of the same. Use it to figure out what’s next.
Your challenge this week: Block out two hours of uninterrupted time. No agenda, no to-do list. Just you and the question: “What do I really want?” Write down whatever comes up, no matter how crazy it sounds.
The extraordinary life you want? It starts with getting clear on what that actually looks like.
Enjoy your week!
